Bon Secours, a faith‑based organization with a 150‑year legacy, is seeking a Chaplain I to provide spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff ncis Medical Center.

Under the direction of the Director of Mission or Director of Spiritual Care, the Chaplain I ministers to patients, families, and staff around religious and spiritual needs, offering support within the context of illness, crisis, loss, and death.

• Recognize the sacramental needs of the Catholic population.
• Provide for religious and ritual needs of diverse faith groups.
• Minister to a diverse population in a non‑proselytizing manner, offering basic emotional and spiritual support to patients, visitors, community members, and associates.
• Employ pastoral skills, including active listening and calm, non‑anxious communication.
• Provide spiritual support in end‑of‑life situations and crises (Code Blue, death, trauma).
• Be available 24/7, including holidays and weekends.

• Bachelor’s degree (required), preferably in Religious or Theological Studies.
• Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).

• Complete one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) within the first year of employment (required).
• Commit to completing one (1) Continuing Professional Education (CPE) unit within the first year (required).

• Experience as a Chaplain in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Completion of lay ministry or ordination process (required).
• Documentation of faith community endorsement by an official representative in good standing with the faith/spiritual tradition (required).

• Presence in illness or crisis.
• Pastoral support respecting patient culture, values, and belief system.
• Active listening, ethical practices, clinical pastoral care.
• Crisis counseling and intervention.
• Empathy, flexibility, interpersonal skills.
• Interfaith dialogue, pastoral ministry, pastoral theology.

• Spiritual care assessment, support, team‑work, theological reflection.
• Verbal and written communication.

• Complete one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) within the first year of employment (required).
