Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – St. Francis Medical Center
The ICU (Critical Care) RN position delivers exceptional nursing care to critically ill patients. The RN is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, leadership of the interdisciplinary team and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
Job Summary- Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status.
- Determine the priority of patient problems and needs.
- Implement clinical nursing interventions for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care.
- Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, create a plan of care, implement treatment and evaluate effectiveness.
- Synthesize and prioritize information to take immediate evidence‑based, patient‑focused action using clinical judgment.
- Anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice and organizational policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS required within 6 months of hire).
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire, required in lieu of BLS/ACLS for Pediatric Units, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
- 1 year of RN experience (required).
- 6 months RN experience in Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit (preferred).
