Junior Accountant

This role is ideal for a candidate who has successfully completed their articles and is looking to grow within a dynamic property development and construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform month-end and year-end accounting processes.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare VAT calculations and statutory submissions.
• Assist with annual audits and provide audit support documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and applicable legislation.
• Review and reconcile debtor and creditor accounts.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and accounting processes.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to provide financial support and guidance.
• Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties as required.

• BCom Degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting, or a related qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Practical experience with:
• Journal processing
• Bank reconciliations
• Creditors reconciliations
• Capturing supplier invoices
• VAT reconciliations
• Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using Pastel Partner or Pastel Evolution.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

• Completed SAIPA articles.
• Experience with Case Ware.
• Knowledge of South African VAT legislation.
