Construction Manager - Major Projects

Our client, a leading international construction and engineering firm, is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Construction Manager to oversee major infrastructure projects in the Midrand, Gauteng area. This senior role demands exceptional leadership, planning, and execution skills to ensure the successful delivery of complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large-scale construction sites, coordinating diverse teams, and mitigating project risks.

• Oversee all aspects of construction operations on major infrastructure projects, including site management, resource allocation, and scheduling.
• Develop and implement comprehensive construction plans, methodologies, and safety protocols.
• Manage project budgets, control costs, and ensure profitable project execution.
• Coordinate and supervise site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient workflow and quality workmanship.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement proactive solutions.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure project objectives are met and stakeholders are informed.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with design specifications.
• Manage contractual obligations and resolve any disputes that may arise during construction.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment on site.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng.) or SACPCMP (Construction Manager) is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management, with a significant focus on large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
• Proven experience in managing complex project schedules, budgets, and multiple subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and site safety regulations.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction administration principles.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities, with the capacity to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects in the Gauteng region, particularly around Midrand , is a significant advantage.
• Willingness to work full-time on-site in various project locations.
