We are looking for a passionate and experienced lecturer to join our School of Engineering and Science and support the growing expertise within our academic team.
This role is ideal for a dynamic, supportive, and innovative educator with strong technical knowledge in mechanical and mechatronic engineering, and a genuine passion for student success. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences that promote student engagement, academic achievement, retention, and throughput.
The lecturer will contribute to programme development, uphold academic integrity, provide high-level academic support, and build collaborative relationships within the institution and the broader engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitating student learning through interactive and engaging teaching practices.
- Setting, conducting, and grading assessments, while providing timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback.
- Contributing to programme and content development, including the improvement of teaching resources and curriculum design.
- Preparing comprehensive project briefs and marking schedules, including learning outcomes, submission requirements, assessment criteria, references, and resources.
- Informing students of assessment methods, procedures, and regulations in line with institutional policies.
- Providing academic support, mentorship, and guidance to promote a positive student experience.
- Identifying at-risk students early and implementing appropriate academic intervention strategies.
- Supporting improved student retention and throughput through innovative teaching and student success initiatives.
- Undertaking relevant academic administration to ensure compliance with institutional requirements and timelines.
- Staying up to date with developments and trends in mechatronic engineering and higher education teaching practice.
- Building and maintaining communities of learning and practice within the department.
- Collaborating with colleagues across departments to strengthen teaching, learning, and student support processes.
- Maintaining a professional, approachable, fair, and supportive presence with students while upholding academic standards.
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Registered member of ECSA.
- At least 5 years’ teaching and learning experience within the Higher Education environment.
