Job DescriptionDoug Jeffery Environmental Consultants is seeking a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (
EAP
) registered with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) to join their team based in Klapmuts, Stellenbosch. This is a full-time, primarily office-based role supporting diverse projects across the Western Cape and broader South Africa.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes, compiling and submitting environmental applications, and preparing high-quality professional reports in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and associated regulations. The role includes liaising with clients, specialists and regulatory authorities, conducting site inspections, coordinating specialist studies, and ensuring compliance with statutory and procedural requirements.
Professionals based in the Cape Winelands or Cape Town are encouraged to apply; applicants willing to relocate will also be considered.
This position is suited to a motivated and Registered EAP who is confident in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high standards of professional integrity and environmental governance.

Professionally Registered EAPs will be prioritised. Candidate EAPs eligible for Professional Registration in 2026 may also be considered.
- Current Registration with EAPASA is mandatory for appointment. Candidate EAPs must be able to demonstrate eligibility for Professional Registration during 2026.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ proven experience in environmental consulting and EIA processes.
- Strong working knowledge of NEMA, Specific Environmental Management Acts (SEMAs), and associated regulations, guidelines and policies.
- Excellent report-writing, professional communication and English language skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate specialist inputs and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Competence in GIS (QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for site inspections and project requirements.
- SACNASP registration will be an advantage but is not essential.
Salary range: Market Related and based on experience
