We’re looking for a hands‑on Thermal Project Engineer to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary thermal projects—primarily in the gas and coal environment—from early concept and proposals through execution and close out. You’ll be the organising force who turns technical intent into executable plans, balancing scope, cost, schedule, risk and quality while keeping stakeholders aligned.
Responsibilities- Own the plan:
Build and maintain integrated project schedules (engineering, procurement, site activities), progress curves and look‑ahead plans; drive critical‑path and float management. - Win the work:
Lead/author technical proposals, scopes of work and execution strategies; coordinate inputs across engineering disciplines; develop BOQs and costed CTRs; support bid/no‑bid, clarifications and presentations. - Run project controls:
Perform project reviews, Establish WBS/OBS, change control, earned‑value tracking, forecasting, cash‑flow and contingency drawdown; manage risks, assumptions and decision logs, issue invoices. - Report clearly:
Produce concise weekly/monthly reports (KPI dashboards, trends, risks, mitigations, decisions required).
- Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behavior consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision, and policies by influencing those around you.
- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm.
- Embracing, displaying, and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
- Engineering degree/ BTech (Mechanical, Chemical or equivalent).
- Pr.Eng / ECSA registration (or eligibility) and exposure to South African utility projects; SACPCMP project management registration beneficial.
- Thermal power experience in gas and/or coal, covering feasibility, basic/detailed design coordination, and site interfaces.
- Strong planning capability (Primavera P6/MS Project), with practical understanding of logic ties, resources and productivity.
- Solid project controls toolkit: WBS, cost control, change management, EV, trend analysis and forecasting.
- Familiarity with FIDIC and NEC suites for professional services/engineering contracts.
- Demonstrated proposal leadership (RFI/RFQ/RFP responses, bidder Q&A, evaluation matrices, presentations).
- Excellent stakeholder management, commercial awareness and technical writing skills.
