Key RoleAct as a civil engineering technical authority within the Energy business, providing strategic leadership, technical governance, and expert input on complex energy projects.
Responsibilities- Serve as the civil engineering authority for major and complex energy projects
- Define and oversee civil design strategies, standards, and best practices
- Provide expert technical review, assurance, and approval of civil designs
- Lead high‑risk technical decision‑making and problem‑solving
- Support international project delivery and global collaboration initiatives
- Advise clients and project teams on complex civil engineering challenges
- Contribute to work‑winning, bid strategies, and technical proposals
- Mentor senior engineers and support succession planning within the discipline
- Ensure alignment with WSP technical excellence, safety, and quality frameworks
- Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behavior consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental, and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
- Contribute to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm
- Embrace, display, and promote the company values and ensure a safe working environment is always maintained
- BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering
- 15+ years’ experience in civil engineering design and project delivery
- Extensive experience on large scale energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects
- Recognised technical authority within civil engineering
- Professional Registration with ECSA
- Exceptional technical expertise and strategic thinking ability
- Strong leadership, judgement, and decision‑making capability
- Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across geographies
- Uncompromising focus on safety, quality, risk management, and delivery
