We are looking for an Engineer:
Civil Infrastructure to join our Transport & Infrastructure team in South Africa. In this role, you will help lead the delivery of civil infrastructure design projects, with a particular focus on stormwater, drainage, roads, bulk earthworks, utilities and associated infrastructure.
You will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support. You will also play an important role in coordinating technical outputs, reviewing design documentation and supporting client‑facing project delivery.
This is an opportunity to apply your civil engineering design experience on meaningful infrastructure projects, while working with experienced professionals across WSP’s local and global network.
You will- Lead and support the design and delivery of stormwater and drainage systems, including pipe networks, attenuation systems and related infrastructure.
- Undertake and oversee civil infrastructure design using Autodesk Civil 3D, including roads and corridors, bulk earthworks, grading, pipe networks and utilities.
- Coordinate project tasks, support workload planning and help ensure technical outputs are delivered to the required quality standards.
- Review drawings, models, calculations and technical documentation for compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design inputs across disciplines.
- Attend client and project meetings, present technical solutions and respond to design‑related queries.
- Support delivery across feasibility, concept, detailed design and construction support stages.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and design documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of cost estimates linked to project designs.
- Promote a safe working environment by supporting WSP’s SHEQ expectations and contributing to Zero Harm.
- A BEng, BSc, BTech or BEng Tech qualification in Civil Engineering.
- Approximately 8+ years’ experience in civil engineering design.
- Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer or Candidate Technologist.
- Strong experience in stormwater and drainage design.
- Proven experience using Autodesk Civil 3D for infrastructure design.
- Experience in roads, bulk earthworks and utility coordination.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, regulations and legislation.
- Good technical judgement and the ability to produce accurate, well‑documented outputs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- The ability to manage priorities, take ownership of tasks and deliver work within agreed timelines.
- Experience on international projects would be advantageous.
