This role combines dynamic water balance modelling, hydrological analysis, catchment modelling, water resource planning and management and water quality (including salinity) assessments to provide holistic system understanding and decision support. The specialist will contribute to water resource planning, stormwater management, regulatory compliance (WULA/IWWMP), and operational optimisation, working within multidisciplinary teams across hydrology, geochemistry, engineering, water resource management and environmental disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and update integrated water balance and water resource models, including Gold Sim simulations.
  • Develop and maintain integrated simulation models incorporating hydrology, catchment processes, infrastructure, and operational systems. Represent rainfall-runoff processes, groundwater recharge, surface water routing, and operational water systems within modelling frameworks. Extend models to incorporate water quality and salinity dynamics, supporting environmental compliance and impact assessment.
  • Apply catchment hydrology principles, including rainfall–runoff modelling and catchment yield estimation. analysis (e.g., dam yield, operating rules).
  • Integrate water quality and salt balance modelling into water management systems.
  • Conduct dam yield analysis and catchment water balances in support of water resources planning.
  • Develop and support stormwater management plans and catchment-based assessments.
  • Contribute to catchment reconciliation studies, water resource planning studies, water resource systems assessments and infrastructure planning.
