Senior Mechanical Engineer - Automotive Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Midrand . This role is pivotal in driving innovation within the automotive design sector, focusing on the development of advanced mechanical systems. • Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components for automotive applications, utilizing CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA).
• Conduct thorough stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs and ensure performance integrity.
• Oversee the prototyping and testing phases, troubleshooting any issues and iterating on designs as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, materials scientists, and manufacturing specialists, to integrate mechanical designs seamlessly.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on design best practices and technical challenges.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing instructions.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on the automotive industry .
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
• Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, and automotive standards.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail.
