Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Midrand . This role is crucial for developing cutting-edge mechanical systems and components that drive the company's product portfolio forward. You will be instrumental in the entire design lifecycle, from conceptualization and detailed design to prototyping and production support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in mechanical principles combined with practical, hands-on experience in a demanding engineering environment, contributing to a culture that fosters technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.

• Lead the design and development of new mechanical systems and components, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) using CAD software.
• Conduct stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs under various operating conditions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, and project management teams to ensure seamless product integration and successful project execution.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on design best practices and problem-solving techniques.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, materials science, and manufacturing technologies to drive innovation.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA, AutoCAD) and FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
