Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical

Our client, a prominent leader in industrial automation and control systems, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong mechanical background for their facility in Midrand, Gauteng . This role involves managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring successful delivery of mechanical systems and solutions. You will be responsible for project planning, resource management, technical oversight, and client liaison.

• Lead and manage end-to-end mechanical engineering projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to project teams, including mechanical designers and technicians.
• Oversee the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimations, and technical evaluations for new projects.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Oversee the procurement of mechanical components and equipment.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project engineering or project management within the mechanical engineering field, preferably in industrial automation.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to effectively manage budgets and resources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with contract negotiation and vendor management is highly desirable.
• PMP or similar project management certification is a significant advantage.
