Senior Process Optimization Engineer

Our client, a leading innovator in chemical manufacturing, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Process Optimization Engineer to join their dynamic team in Midrand, Gauteng . This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our client's chemical production processes. • Analyze existing chemical processes to identify areas for improvement in yield, energy consumption, and waste reduction.
• Design, develop, and implement process modifications and control strategies to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed process changes and capital projects.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process simulation models to predict performance and optimize operating conditions.
• Oversee pilot plant studies and scale-up activities for new processes or modifications.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to operational staff.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, process documentation, and presentations for management.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in chemical engineering technology and best practices.

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in process engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proven experience in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, reaction kinetics, and separation processes.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in process control systems and instrumentation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations relevant to chemical manufacturing.
