Data Officer

Main Purpose

To support the implementation and operation of the bank's data governance framework by working with Technical Data Stewards, coordinating data governance activities, monitoring compliance with governance standards, and supporting Data Owners to ensure that data remains trusted, secure, compliant, and fit for business use.

• Work with and support a team of Technical Data Stewards to ensure governance activities are executed effectively and consistently across data domains.
• Allocate and monitor workload, set priorities, provide guidance, conduct performance reviews.
• Monitor stewardship deliverables and ensure governance activities are completed within agreed timelines and standards.

• Monitor data quality metrics and reports, coordinate investigations into data quality issues, track remediation activities, and provide oversight to ensure identified issues are resolved within agreed time frames.
• Support Data Owners and Business Data Stewards in implementing data quality controls and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Oversee the maintenance of business glossaries, data dictionaries, critical data elements, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation.
• Ensure metadata artefacts remain accurate, complete, and aligned to governance standards.

• Support the delivery of data governance awareness campaigns, training initiatives, and communication activities that promote data literacy and responsible data management practices throughout the Bank.

• Support internal and external audit activities, regulatory reviews, and compliance assessments.
• Coordinate the collection of evidence, track findings, and monitor remediation actions to closure.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
• CDMP certification.
• 2–4 years' experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Analysis, Information Management, Data Quality or a related discipline.
• Support governance processes, maintain governance documentation, track actions and coordinate governance activities.
• Monitor data quality controls, analyze quality metrics, investigate issues and support remediation activities.
• Maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, metadata repositories and data lineage documentation.
• Prepare governance reports, dashboards and KPI packs for management and governance committees.
• Log, track, elevate and monitor the resolution of data-related issues and risks.
• Assist with monitoring compliance against governance policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Preparing governance reports, dashboards, and metrics for management committees.
• Work effectively with Data Owners, Data Stewards, technology teams and business users.
• Maintain governance artefacts, policies, standards, procedures and evidence required for audits and compliance reviews.
• Excellent written and verbal skills and documentation abilities
• Understanding of system architecture and the ramifications of various architectures on the analytics environment
• Working knowledge of Data Governance and Management in line with the DAMA model
