Are you ready to start building a career in Occupational Health and Safety? This 12‑month learnership opportunity is designed for People Living with Disabilities who want to gain practical workplace experience while working towards a recognised Occupational Health and Safety qualification.
Through this structured learning journey, you’ll develop practical skills in workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, safety documentation, incident reporting, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement – helping to create a safer and healthier working environment for everyone.
You will be supported by experienced Environment, Health and Safety professionals while gaining exposure to real workplace safety practices in a global technology and innovation environment.
Responsibilities- Assisting with workplace inspections to identify Occupational Health and Safety hazards.
- Supporting hazard identification and risk assessment processes in designated work areas.
- Helping implement actions to eliminate, control, or reduce workplace risks.
- Supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of Occupational Health and Safety systems.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of health and safety documentation, records, reports, controls, and procedures.
- Participating in incident and accident reporting, investigation support, and corrective action tracking.
- Supporting safety compliance monitoring in line with workplace requirements and applicable legal obligations.
- Assisting with health and safety awareness initiatives, toolbox talks, training activities, and continuous improvement campaigns.
- Supporting emergency preparedness, workplace safety inspections, and operational safety improvement activities.
- Working collaboratively with employees, Occupational Health and Safety representatives, and EHS professionals to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- A Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification with Mathematical Literacy.
- Enrollment in or completion of the Occupational Certificate:
Safety, Health and Quality Practitioner (SAQA ) or an equivalent qualification. - A basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety principles.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative mindset, willingness to learn, and a high level of accountability.
- Practical, hands‑on experience aligned to your qualification.
- Exposure to workplace inspections, risk management processes, and OHS systems.
- Mentorship from experienced Environment, Health and Safety professionals.

- Upon successful completion of the learnership, workplace experience requirements, and the required external assessment, learners will obtain the nationally recognised Occupational Certificate:
Safety, Health and Quality Practitioner:
Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner, SAQA , NQF Level
5. Learners will also gain practical workplace experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
