Fleet Manager

Our client, a leading national logistics provider, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Fleet Manager to oversee their vehicle fleet operations in Midrand
. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective management of the company's transportation assets. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for vehicle maintenance scheduling, driver management, regulatory compliance, and optimizing fleet utilization to meet operational demands. This on-site position requires a hands‑on approach and a deep understanding of fleet operations, safety protocols, and cost control. • Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's vehicle fleet, including scheduling maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and licensing requirements.
• Oversee driver performance, training, and adherence to company policies and driving standards.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization and reduce operating costs (fuel, maintenance, etc.).
• Maintain accurate records of fleet inventory, maintenance history, and operational expenses.
• Manage relationships with external service providers, such as mechanics and parts suppliers.
• Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents involving fleet vehicles.
• Implement and monitor telematics and GPS systems for fleet tracking and efficiency.
• Contribute to the procurement and disposal of fleet vehicles as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws and regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a related transportation role.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and operational best practices.
• Proven experience in managing driver performance and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Excellent understanding of fleet management software and telematics systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and control operational costs effectively.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license is essential.
• Knowledge of South African traffic laws and road safety regulations.
