Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of relationship development and sales experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in business banking.
  • History of meeting high sales goals consistently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, trust, diplomacy, courtesy, tact, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and train others.
  • Physical ability to lift equipment up to 25 pounds; reliable vehicle and willingness to travel.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

The primary function of the Business Development Officer is outside sales. They cultivate relationships with businesses to bring the employees of the business to the credit union or to bring the business account/loan to the credit union. They work independently to develop their own leads and have a monthly goal for the number of new accounts. They must possess confidence, charisma, determination, and a positive attitude.

They maintain a strong relationship with members and credit union employees and have a strong knowledge of credit union products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Proactively develop new business relationships by meeting with local business owners and leaders to introduce the credit union’s full suite of business products and services.
  • Independently plan, organize, and prioritize daily activities to achieve performance goals.
  • Advocate for the credit union through strategic networking and outreach initiatives aimed at new member acquisition and relationship retention.
  • Enhance the credit union’s brand visibility and reputation across business, community, and professional organizations.
  • Deliver educational classes on business banking principles and products to partner organizations and community groups.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of assigned business contacts and viable prospects.
  • Provide regular activity, performance, and results reporting to leadership.
  • Help resolve questions, requests, complaints, and problems from business members and credit union employees.
  • Complete special projects and additional responsibilities assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives.

OTHER SKILLS

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
