Part Time Call Taker

Overview

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Part Time 911 Call Taker in the Emergency Communications Department. Applications for this position CAN be submitted online. • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, obtain essential information, and accurately enter details into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
• Maintain clear communication under pressure and document information accurately for use by responding agencies.
• Manage stressful situations while extracting critical details from callers.
• Operate software including CAD, 911, OLETS and NCIC; operate a two-way radio, teletype machine, and computer terminal with OLETS certification preferred.
• Work includes shift work with ten hour shifts, holiday and weekend duty; on-call status; semi-routine with emergencies.
• Must pass required tests and screenings; attend OLETS training and Basic Telecommunications training within the specified time frame.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must successfully pass a data entry test with a minimum of 5500 keystrokes per hour.
• Pass an in-depth background check, polygraph, fingerprinting, FBI triple I check, drug screen, and hearing test.
• Must be designated as safety/security sensitive.

Starting Salary $22.3596/hr this is an entry-level but highly demanding position requiring focus, multitasking, and sound judgement.
