GeneralSummary & Scope
The Elite Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting on their hair care needs, and recommending products and services. The Elite Stylist delivers quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) and focus on performance (service sales and productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards).
This role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, hair treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Meet or exceed sales goals, including average weekly hair service sales targets and productivity goals; contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and inventory control as applicable.
- Demonstrate products through guest demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
- Support the execution of in-store events, promotions and marketing initiatives to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
- Stay informed on new and existing industry trends, products, and services; be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
- Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
- Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store guest experience.
- Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest service.
- Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program with guests in the salon and salesfloor.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for ongoing professional development.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures; ensure compliance with state board guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
- Utilize booking and clientele systems to book guests for return services and events.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness at all times.
- Maintain store operational standards, including cleanliness of the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and any assigned area.
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty dress code and protect company assets by following loss prevention practices.
- Execute other operational tasks as directed.
- Cosmetology license
- Previous relevant work experience required
- Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, texture, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing as applicable; aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
- Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and a clientele base.
Position Requirements
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous mobility during shift; ability to lift up to 10 lbs as needed.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting; ability to stand for long periods.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
