Job Title: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)

Department: Hospitalist Department

Reports To: Medical Director

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 7-on to 7-off

Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a hospital-based care team dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered services in a fast-paced acute care environment. This role involves close collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to manage complex patient cases, optimize treatment outcomes, and ensure the highest standard of clinical excellence during overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examination, and diagnostic evaluation.

Develop and manage individualized treatment plans in coordination with the healthcare team.

Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and monitor patient progress.

Provide timely follow-up and continuity of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Partner with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to support shared decision-making and quality outcomes.

Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, medication adherence, and preventive care strategies.

Clinical Leadership

Serve as a clinical resource for the care team and assist in mentoring new providers or medical trainees when appropriate.

Participate in the development and improvement of clinical protocols and best practices.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation using the hospitals electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Adhere to hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Stay current with evolving medical practices, clinical innovations, and healthcare technology.

Engage in continuing education and professional development to enhance clinical competency.

Qualifications

Education

Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing (Acute Care specialty) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, or

Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.

Licensure & Certification

Current, unrestricted license to practice as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Oklahoma.

National board certification (ANCC, NCCPA, or AANP).

Experience

Minimum of 2 to 3 years of clinical experience in acute care or hospitalist settings preferred.

Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.

Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and digital health tools.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift or assist patients and stand for prolonged periods.

Capability to work in a high-acuity environment while managing urgent clinical priorities.
