Description

Skip-a-Long Childhood Centers, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities area’s leading provider of early childhood care and education and now includes the Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships program. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for.

The Teacher is responsible for developing a quality learning environment which is developmentally appropriate and actively engages children in the learning process. Through experience this position will serve to enhance the child’s physical, emotional, cognitive, and social growth. The Teacher implements curriculum with active participation from other members of the teaching team, works with families, and assesses the needs of the individual children.

You will also:

  • Ensure safety practices in creating a secure environment that minimizes the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team, families and specialists to establish individual learning goals based on assessment findings.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages social interaction, emotional well-being and growth.
  • Design and implement lesson plans based on knowledge of individual children’s interests and needs.
  • Conduct home visits to build stronger relationships and gain a better understanding of the child’s home environment.
  • Engage in continuous professional growth and development.

Salary, Benefits And Perks

Due to current funding from the Illinois Apprenticeship Pilot Project dependent on education and Illinois Gateways to Opportunity Credential attainment hourly pay for this position ranges from $18.96-$24.60. Additional details regarding this project will be discussed upon interview.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A full list of job responsibilities will be provided prior to an interview. This position must obtain required background clearances. Requests for reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law will be considered.

Education And Experience

Required:

Minimum of sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or development, from birth to age six; or one year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed early care and education center and 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or development, from birth to six;

or completion of credentialing programs approved by the Department.
