Overview Amazon’s Data Centers are industry‑leading examples of innovation in security, safety, space utilization, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. The EMEA Data Center Construction team is looking for a Senior Pre‑Construction Manager to serve as the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Construction, and other critical partner teams during initial planning, conceptual design, and design development. The role focuses on providing cost, schedule, and constructability guidance for HV infrastructure projects and supporting the development and implementation of design standards across regional construction programs.
Key Responsibilities Review and provide input into global standards and HV/water infrastructure designs.
Support, overview, and manage complex, cross‑functional HV/water infrastructure projects from site selection, permitting, and contract execution, keeping project stakeholders informed.
Control project progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately.
Work with internal and external teams—including real estate, legal, design engineering, construction, finance, architects, engineers, permitting agencies, developers, and landlords—to secure resources, scope infrastructure builds, set priorities, milestones, and drive results.
Conduct negotiations with general contractors; evaluate bids/proposals, participate in pricing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions, and negotiate costs with developers, contractors, and design consultants.
Evaluate site due diligence, schedule tracking, and solve factors that may impede a successful permitted project hand‑over to Amazon stakeholders.
Insist on the highest standards, drive accountability, lead externals, and manage interns or internal teams, including coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
Qualifications & Experience Experience working effectively on milestone‑driven projects.
Experience managing teams and external advisors.
7+ years of experience in construction site management for large industrial or infrastructure projects.
7+ years of experience in end‑to‑end mission‑critical facilities (design, pre‑construction, scheduling, construction, and commissioning), analyzing statutes and regulations and making appropriate recommendations.
Knowledge of civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering principles.
Fluent in English and Italian.
Ability to travel approximately 40% of the time.
Knowledge of critical data center equipment (generators, UPS, switch‑gear, transformers, power feeders, chillers, plumbing, fire detection/suppression, air handling units, CRAH, CRAC).
Additional language knowledge appreciated.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent trade certification.
