Position Overview
La Scuola International seeks an Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher to begin in December. The ideal candidate will have interest and knowledge in practicing the Reggio Emilia approach, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Early Years and familiarity in an English Language Immersion environment. Applicants should be strong team players, very proactive and flexible.

This role is tempo determinato and the Assistant Teacher will support and implement the daily program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the School under the supervision and direction of the Vice Principal / Deputy Head of School

Role & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Ensure students are joyfully and safely engaged in classroom activities and outdoor play during the school day and during daily Extended Care program

Support head teacher(s) and specialists with overall classroom management and supervision;

Collaborate with the teaching team to work with children in small groups and individually, and to plan and implement lessons;

Guide student behavior patiently and supportively; provide age-appropriate social-emotional instruction and support to students;

Organize and set up the classroom environment, equipment, materials for nap, games, art, crafts, science, and outdoor activities;

Manage children and systems during nap, play, class, lunch, outdoor time;

Communicate observations and insights to Head Teacher(s); support weekly classroom documentation;

Maintain an encouraging and positive attitude with students and colleagues.

Assist with snack preparation and cleanup as needed.

Help prepare, organize, and clean program spaces and equipment, including closing the building when assigned.

Promptly communicate with students, families and colleagues regarding any concerns or to report any incidents.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach, International Baccalaureate (IB) Early Years framework or inquiry/project based approach and teaching within an English language immersion model;

Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that prioritizes reflection and fosters growth as the school continues to evolve;

Ability to be open-minded, creative and curious learning in relationship with colleagues and students alike;

Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal, and ability to present in public to both parents, colleagues and other educators;

Strong time management skills including consistent attendance, punctuality, ability to meet deadlines and participation in school life;

Ability to find joy in working with all children and finds ways to differentiate learning and connect across learner profiles;

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education preferred;

Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Italian with native or near-native English proficiency.

Salary:  Competitive compensation package including benefits based on years of experience and qualifications.

Candidates must be authorized to work in Italy. Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in Italy.

Final candidates will need to pass Background Clearance (Fedina Penale) and a physical exam, and provide a recent copy of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test and other immunization records.
