Lead Fire Engineer

Experteer Overview As Lead Fire Engineer at Arup, you drive the fire strategy for technically demanding projects and lead fire protection design in cross-disciplinary teams. You act as project lead, interfacing with clients and coordinating internal and external experts. You develop fire safety calculations from simple to CFD/FEM modelling, and you oversee statutory roles and reviews. You also support business development and mentor colleagues while sharing knowledge to deliver high-quality service.

The role sits within Arup’s Building Services team, contributing to sustainable, resilient projects across Italy.

Retribuzione / Benefits Lead the design and delivery of fire strategy in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and the fire statutory subconsultant

Lead the Fire Protection systems design in coordination with internal and external teams

Act as project lead, managing the service and interfacing with clients’ teams

Develop fire safety calculations, from simplified methods to CFD/FEM and crowd movement modeling

Liaise with clients from feasibility to completion to align design ambitions

Review and audit fire safety work on buildings and existing infrastructures

Manage execution of fire engineering statutory roles from subconsultants

Contribute to business development through client meetings, bid documentation, and mentoring

Share knowledge across the team to deliver high-quality service to clients

ResponsabilitàChartered Engineer status

BS in Architectural, Mechanical Engineering, Building engineering or similar studies

Master’s Degree in Fire Safety Engineering or similar

Experience in fire safety and/or fire protection engineering

High level of English and Italian (C1)
Knowledge of Fire safety standards – BS, NFPA, FM Global and Italian fire codes

Knowledge of BIM/Revit;
Namirial; CFD tools (FDS/Ansys); people movement tools (Mass Motion/Legion/Conqueror); and structural/fire modelling tools (Safir/ ls Dyna)
