Bracco is an international Group active in the healthcare sector and a leader in diagnostic imaging. The Group’s main products are contrast agents sold in over 100 countries, both directly and indirectly through branches, joint ventures and license and distribution agreements.

The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the company’s environmental management system, ensuring compliance with national and international regulations. This role focuses on environmental risk prevention, process safety integration and continuous improvement through audits and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) plans.

Key Responsibilities
Incident Prevention & Environmental Risk Management

Identify environmental risks and implement preventive measures across operations.

Lead investigations of environmental incidents and near misses, performing root cause analysis and defining corrective actions.

Drive Environmental Incident and Spill Prevention programs within operational sites.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental management systems aligned with ISO 14001 and corporate standards.

Ensure full compliance with national and international environmental regulations (e.g., AIA, AUA, VIA, EU REACH, Seveso III, Basel Convention).

Manage environmental permitting processes and maintain ongoing regulatory compliance.

Map and analyze site-specific “permit to operate” requirements (e.g., AIA/AUA conditions), identifying gaps, improvement opportunities and ensuring systematic and standardized implementation across sites.

Propose and drive harmonization and optimization of environmental compliance processes, enhancing efficiency, traceability and governance.

Remediation & Environmental Problem Solving

Coordinate environmental remediation plans for contaminated sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines.

Lead the resolution of complex environmental issues (e.g., soil and groundwater contamination, air emissions, waste mismanagement), coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Support risk assessments and define mitigation strategies to prevent recurrence of environmental incidents.

Stakeholder & Authority Interface

Act as the main point of contact with environmental authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring transparent and proactive communication.

Manage inspections, audits and formal requests from authorities, providing technical documentation and follow-up actions.

Support negotiations and alignment with external stakeholders on environmental compliance and improvement actions.

Oversee waste management processes, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and internal standards.

Optimize waste segregation, classification, storage and disposal pathways in line with sustainability objectives.

Promote circular economy initiatives, including waste reduction, reuse and recovery opportunities.

Manage environmental aspects related to suppliers, contractors and service providers.

Evaluate supplier environmental performance and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate third-party activities related to waste management, remediation and environmental services.

Plan and conduct internal environmental audits and support external audits.

Develop, implement and monitor CAPA plans addressing non-conformities.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with operations and technical functions.

Process Safety & ADR Integration

Integrate environmental considerations into process safety assessments.

Ensure compliance with ADR requirements for the transportation of dangerous goods.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

Prepare environmental performance reports and KPIs for management and sustainability reporting.

Maintain accurate and auditable environmental records.

Educational & Professional Experience

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related field.

10 years of experience in environmental management within industrial or manufacturing settings.

Strong knowledge of Italian and international environmental legislation and permitting processes (for Italy AIA, AUA, VIA).

Familiarity with international standards and frameworks (ISO 14001, EU REACH, ADR, Seveso III).

Experience in incident investigation, audits, and CAPA planning.

Communication skills both in English and Italian.
