As a Senior UX / Product Designer in Abbott’s Diagnostics Division, you will lead end-to-end design for informatics products across desktop, web, and mobile. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive experiences that meet high quality and regulatory standards. You’ll translate customer needs into differentiated product concepts and drive research, prototyping, and iterative improvements. This role combines hands‑on design leadership with shaping UX architecture and reusable assets to scale across projects.
You’ll contribute to meaningful healthcare tech that improves usability, safety, and patient outcomes.

Design across desktop, web, and mobile platforms
Translate customer needs into differentiated product experiences
Create and maintain UX artifacts (personas, journeys, wireframes, prototypes, specs)
Drive user research and usability testing, iterating designs by insights
Improve UX architecture, processes, tools, and templates
Promote reuse, consistency, and scalability of UX assets
Define design patterns and frameworks for usability and visual quality
Ensure compliance with ADD Informatics Quality System and regulatory standards
Assess UX-related technical risks and mitigation strategies
Communicate concepts and findings clearly to stakeholders
Collaborate with product managers, R&D, engineers, and external partners
Participate in Human Factors Engineering activities to improve usability and safety
Plan, execute, and track design projects including scope and timelines
Occasional travel to support projects
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, HCI, Information Architecture)5+ years of experience designing and launching software or informatics products in relevant industries
Experience in Scrum/Agile environments
Strong knowledge of user‑centered design principles and methodologies
Hands‑on design and prototyping tool experience (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, InVision, Axure, Dreamweaver CC, etc.)Understanding of frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, XAML) and accessibility standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and problem‑solving abilities
