Job DescriptionKey required skills:
Strong knowledge of the mainframe environment, including CICS, DB2, MQ and ITM products.
- Work with advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
- Challenge with working on complex technical problems and providing innovative solutions.
- Work with highly experienced and technical resources.
- All other duties as assigned or directed.
- 5 or more years of technical experience with mainframe demand, capacity, and performance management.
- 2 or more years of Tivoli Enterprise tools, DB2 and CICS region management and maintenance experience.
- Experience integrating new technologies with existing technologies.
- Experience implementing technologies with enterprise‑wide impact.
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
- Experience managing major projects from end to end.
- Analyze and debug CICS and Web Sphere MQ performance problems using TEPS, Introscope, etc.
- Analyze and debug WAS problems including heap usage, garbage collection, CPU response, EC3 abends and backend systems.
- Troubleshoot other Web Sphere related issues using EJES to check logs, TEPS, and Omegamon.
- Respond to Hot Terminal, SSA Alerts and email messages identifying problems.
- Identify and report Z/OS, JES3, Top Secret and other underlying system software problems.
- Identify and troubleshoot CICS and database problems.
- Download CICS system and application dumps.
- Perform CICS system dump analysis and provide recommendations.
- Troubleshoot DB2, Oracle and IDMS problems.
- Demonstrate CICS programming experience using Java, COBOL, or assembly to identify and isolate problems.
- Upon resolution, brief all monitoring staff, management, developers and customers on the problem and resolution alternatives.
- Monitor Web Sphere MQ and WAS applications using Omegamon, Tivoli ITCAMS, CICSplex, Introscope, Dynatrace and ABEND Aid.
- Monitor >700 CICS regions in production, training and integration environments using Omegamon, Tivoli ITCAMS, CICSplex and ABEND Aid.
- Update troubleshooting databases via SMAB’s internal reporting mechanism (the Greenbook) and manage CAPRS tickets.
- Maintain operating system performance parameters.
- Perform mid‑level troubleshooting.
- Monitor critical system resources.
- Real‑time performance monitoring.
- Support operating system upgrades.
- Review workload delay data to determine root cause and effect on throughput.
- Provide on‑call 7 x 24 rotation, weekend work, etc.
- Work constructively to achieve results while maintaining composure.
- Speak effectively, clearly communicating thoughts in person and in writing.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and urgency for issues important to others.
- Actively involve in team process by proposing solutions and researching problems.
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Must obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
