We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Building Automation Project Manager for the Building Intelligence Group of Arch Energy. This role is an integral part of our delivery team, responsible for ensuring successful implementation of building automation system projects, on‑time delivery, and adherence to budget. The position involves managing all aspects of projects including planning, design, installation, configuration, testing, and client handover, while maintaining customer satisfaction and addressing challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for BMS installations.
- Manage project scope and ensure adherence to requirements.
- Allocate tasks to team members and monitor progress.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Oversee system configuration, programming, integration, and commissioning documentation.
- Conduct regular project status and financial overview meetings.
- Forecast manpower and financial needs monthly.
- Interpret engineering submittals and schedules for equipment release and tracking.
- Ensure proper installation of end devices per project documents and manufacturer instructions.
- Support subcontractor installation efforts, invoicing, and change management.
- Attend project meetings and keep stakeholders informed.
- Communicate effectively within the team and elevate roadblocks.
- Document scope/design changes and prepare as‑built documentation.
- Train building operators on BMS systems and ensure smooth handover.
- Validate system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and trades.
- Complete administrative tasks (time sheets, expense reports, site documentation).
- Perform site‑specific training for owners/operators.
- Provide technical assistance to BAS team members.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders as required.
- Strong understanding of BMS system architecture, components, and functionalities.
- Ability to identify appropriate BMS hardware/software based on project needs.
- Proficiency in reviewing, generating, and approving contracts and documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders and contractors.
- Ability to manage expectations and address concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
- Knowledge of HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- Ability to verify equipment wiring requirements.
- Competence in financial forecasting and project cost management.
- Intermediate programming knowledge of at least two vendor languages (Johnson Controls, ALC, Siemens, Distech, Honeywell).
- Strong computer skills and financial management capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Problem‑solving and risk management skills.
- Ability to act independently with sound judgment.
- Minimum two‑year technical degree in engineering, building automation, or related field.
- 7–9 years of field experience with building automation systems (Niagara systems preferred).
- Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and quality control.
- Excellent understanding of HVAC and building automation systems.
