Position Summary
The Core Banking Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, stability, and ongoing optimization of the organization's core banking platform, with an initial focus on the Jack Henry Symitar system. This role owns the day‑to‑day operation of mission‑critical banking applications and serves as the primary technical liaison between the organization, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
This position is ideal for an enterprise application or ERP support professional who is interested in developing deep expertise in core banking systems and is motivated to learn a highly specialized platform. Formal Symitar training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities Core System Ownership- Administer, configure, and support the core banking platform (Symitar), ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability
- Manage day‑to‑day operational tasks including system configuration, parameter changes, job scheduling, and user access
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Jack Henry support and third‑party vendors
- Coordinate and support core system upgrades, patches, and releases
- Maintain system documentation, configurations, and operational procedures
- Participate in audits, examinations, and internal reviews related to core banking systems
- Partner with business units to understand operational needs and translate them into system configurations or enhancements
- Support integrations between the core system and ancillary platforms (e.g., online banking, payments, lending, reporting)
- Assist with data queries, extracts, and reporting as needed to support business operations
- Monitor system health and proactively identify issues before they impact operations
- Respond to and resolve core system incidents in a calm and methodical manner
- Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning for core systems
- 2‑5 years of experience supporting or administering an enterprise application, ERP system, or comparable business‑critical platform
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex systems through formal training and applied practice
- Experience working in a regulated or high‑availability environment (financial services, healthcare, utilities, etc.)
- Proven ability to work directly with vendors and external support organizations
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience with core banking platforms such as Symitar, FIS, Client, Temenos, or similar
- Experience with ERP platforms (Oracle, Workday, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics)
- Experience supporting audits, exams, or compliance reviews
- Background in credit unions or community banking environments
- Formal Symitar training will be provided as part of the onboarding and development plan. Successful candidates should be comfortable learning through structured coursework, documentation, and hands‑on application in a production environment.
