Diesel Mechanic / In-Shop Service Technician
Pay Range: $35.30 to $39.76 per hour based on experience.
Responsibilities- Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
- Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
- Determine reusability of parts according to published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
- Order replacement parts ensuring they are correct and complete at the time of order.
- Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
- Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems.
- Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
- Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times adhering to company policy.
- Be flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three years experience as an Earthmoving Shop Technician on heavy equipment.
- Experience on CAT heavy equipment or similar equipment.
- Heavy equipment service/maintenance knowledge.
- Proficiency in mechanical systems (transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.).
- Proficiency in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong math skills.
- Able to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced service environment.
- Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.
