The role involves operating a high‑speed packaging line cutting master cable lengths to shipping lengths, performing rework, preparation, inspection, packaging cable products, and loading finished cable products for shipment.
Position SummaryOperates the high‑speed packaging line to cut master cable lengths to shipping lengths, perform a variety of rework, preparation, inspection, packaging cable products, and load finished cable products for shipment to customers while consistently meeting quality and productivity requirements in a safe manner with minimum scrap.
Shift DetailsMon – Fri 3 pm – 11 pm and Mon – Thu 7 pm – 7 am. Training shift:
Mon – Thu 7 am – 7 pm.
- Always complies with company safety rules during working hours and ensures the safety of himself/herself and others at his/her operating station.
- Verifies that the product conforms with the packaging requirements stated in the engineering specifications and any other special customer instructions prior to release for shipment.
- Visually inspects all empty take‑up reels for proper size, strength, appearance, and checks the inside of flanges for foreign material that could damage the finished product.
- Verifies that there is no physical damage to the cable product, packaging material and/or reel.
- Generates product identification tags for finished product and maintains accurate record keeping of all pertinent information required by Hendrix.
- Clears hold tags (non‑conforming product) as instructed to meet internal/customer specification and interacts with Quality Control to verify product conformance.
- Terminates cable ends when required.
- Weighs work‑center scrap, including bare balances, completes scrap tag requirements, includes scrap reporting, and transports it to a designated area.
- Verifies that the measuring devices are calibrated.
- Schedules and completes work assignments in accordance with customer due dates to meet scheduled shipping dates.
- Loads trucks in conformance with the shipping requirements stated on the work order and/or the Hendrix standards, as applicable.
- Experience in the wire & cable industry is a plus.
- Material handling techniques.
- Operation of high‑speed packaging line equipment.
- High‑voltage testing and fault location.
- Understanding of safety issues associated with chemicals, the high‑speed packaging line, high‑voltage testing, and various tools used in the work area.
- Tools and measuring devices applicable to the industry.
- ISO requirements pertaining to the lines.
- Read micrometers and other related precision tools.
- Communicates effectively to receive and pass on information and instructions.
- Mechanical aptitude regarding line operation and troubleshooting of basic line problems.
- Fulfills simple computer tasks.
