Muir Woods Trading Company is seeking a Retail Assistant Manager to join our team in Mill Valley, CA. You will work closely with the General Manager to ensure that the retail business operates efficiently and seamlessly while following all company policies and procedures to provide an extraordinary experience for all park visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with training of retail staff and backup Retail Manager on days off
  • Demonstrate knowledge of merchandise, styling and pricing according to the company's policies and procedures
  • Partner with Warehouse team to ensure proper transfers and merchandise levels at the store
  • Understand the process, and assist the Retail Manager, with correct NPS markups on all products at all times including deli
  • Maintain knowledge of product lines with an emphasis on local and regional facts to assist other staff and customers
  • Assist with store set up: display and merchandising, inventory levels
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point of sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards and making change
  • Conduct inventory, restock merchandise and ensure adequate merchandise supply levels working in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Assist with managing all inventory to keep all items in stock during business hours
  • Keep retail spaces organized and clean
  • Prepare end of shift report, deposit receipts and cash and advise Retail Manager accordingly
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances
  • Ensure safety compliance by checking store, warehouse and reporting and correcting issues (as needed.)
  • Ensure staff are following HR compliance policies and procedures including rest periods, breaks and managing overtime
  • Coach, develop and mentor staff including leading team meetings on a daily basis
  • Understand company's ISO (Quality and Environmental) management systems, policies, goals, and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas, with a focus on upholding the highest level of quality
  • Maintain job related confidentiality
  • Actively foster a positive work environment with a focus on teamwork
  • Other duties per the Duties checklists and as assigned
Requirements
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required to analyze sales data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Ability to read, follow and report budgetary issues in partnership with store manager
  • Proven leader capable of motivating staff
  • Under advisement of the store manager, will be responsible for a sales department and will track and improve merchandising, stock levels and the assortment of goods
  • Valid Driver's License = Must be able to drive staff between Warehouse and Store site (as needed)
  • Excellent customer service and people skills
  • Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend and holiday shifts
  • Gain efficiency with Retail Pro system or comparable POS system (POS and reporting)
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally and handle physical exertion involving bending, twisting, and squatting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
    College Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Two years retail experience preferred
  • Two years leadership or supervisory experience
