KAD Design is seeking a creative, technically skilled, and highly collaborative Junior Interior Designer / Architectural Drafter to join our growing residential design-build team in Millbrae, CA.
This is a hands-on role with two main focuses: architectural/interior drafting and social media/brand content creation.
The ideal candidate has strong drafting and visualization skills, a good eye for design, and an interest in high-end residential construction. You'll also be comfortable capturing and creating engaging content that tells the story of our projects, materials, showroom, and design-build process.
POSITION DETAILS- Full-time: $60,000–$70,000 per year, depending on experience
- Part-time option: 6 hours per day (30 hours/week), $29–$34 per hour, depending on experience
- Create and revise residential floor plans, interior elevations, cabinetry elevations, and design details
- Translate field measurements, architectural plans, sketches, and design direction into accurate drawings
- Develop detailed drawings for kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, bars, built‑ins, closets, fireplaces, and other custom spaces
- Assist with space planning and design development
- Create 3D models, renderings, and client presentation materials
- Incorporate design revisions accurately and efficiently
- Coordinate drawings with architectural, engineering, cabinetry, and construction documents
- Maintain organized, current project drawing sets
- Participate in site measures and field verification as needed
- Work closely with our Design Lead, project managers, construction team, and vendors
- Capture photo and video at active projects, installations, vendor visits, and our Millbrae showroom
- Create content for Instagram Reels, Stories, posts, and other short‑form platforms
- Document projects from design through construction and completion
- Develop before‑and‑after content, project highlights, material features, design tips, and behind‑the‑scenes content
- Help plan and maintain a consistent, elevated social media presence
- Create branded graphics and marketing materials in Canva
- Organize project photography and video for future marketing use
- Material and finish selections: tile, stone, plumbing, lighting, hardware, flooring, cabinetry, paint, and wall coverings
- Material and finish schedules
- Product research and specifications
- Vendor and showroom coordination
- Job‑site and showroom visits
- AutoCAD / CAD and/or Sketch Up
- Rendering/visualization software (a plus)
- Canva, Instagram, and video editing (strongly valued)
You don't need to be an expert in every program, but you must have strong drafting skills and be able to quickly learn our Chief Architect workflow.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR- Degree or coursework in Interior Design, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field (preferred)
- 1–3 years of relevant experience (preferred)
- Strong architectural/interior drafting skills
- Understanding of residential interiors, cabinetry, kitchens, bathrooms, and millwork
- Strong visual and design sensibility
- Interest or experience in social media and brand content creation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable receiving direction, incorporating feedback, and asking questions proactively
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Able to manage multiple active projects and deadlines
- Comfortable working with clients, vendors, contractors, and trades
- Comfortable visiting active construction sites and local showrooms
- Positive, professional, and dependable
This is not a drafting-only position. You'll see projects move through the entire residential design-build process, from initial design and drawings through material selections, construction, installation, and the completed home. You'll also help document that process and share our work through social media and brand content.
