- Office hours:
Monday–Friday 7:45 am–7:00 pm, Saturday 7:45 am–1:00 pm - Your shifts will fall within these hours

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Phlebotomy experience and/or license is highly preferred
- Favorable result on Background Check

An Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe is a valuable asset to an Ophthalmologist, assisting in providing excellent patient care during visits. The employee will use ophthalmic techniques to perform preliminary work‑up of patients in a clinic setting, scribe for physicians, and may also directly assist physicians with examinations and treatment of patients.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)
- Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave
- Anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic
- Exercise urgency with patient’s time, the doctor’s time, and the schedule
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA
- Verify patient’s information by interviewing the patient
- Record patient’s medical history, current medications, and confirm purpose of visit
- Record all data in the patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Check condition of patient's eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extra‑ocular movements
- Perform diagnostic tests: dilation, refraction, intraocular pressure, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, autorefractor, and topography
- Demonstrate work knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications
- Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures performed by the physician
- Demonstrate basic understanding of examination and procedure codes (ICD‑9) when inputting into the EMR system
- Ensure accurate procedure coding/charges and correct diagnosis codes are used
- Prepare patients for treatments and minor procedures; measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate) as required
- Open and close exam rooms as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and stock of examination, treatment, laser, and other assigned rooms, and keep drug count up to date
- Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager
- Desire to gain industry knowledge and training

- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Phlebotomy experience is highly preferred
