Independent Consultants: Technology Commercialization (Project-Based)

Tech Transfer Advisors (TTA) is a newly launched research commercialization advisory firm in Salt Lake City. We help university tech transfer offices, researchers, founders, and companies take technology from the lab to the market. Our team has worked inside university technology licensing offices, Mayo Clinic Ventures, biopharma, and startups. We are adding independent consultants in areas our team does not yet cover.

• Engineering and physical sciences technology transfer (materials, energy, electronics, aerospace, manufacturing)
• Software, AI, and data technology licensing
• FDA regulatory strategy for devices, diagnostics, and therapeutics
• Healthcare reimbursement and market access
• Valuation, financial modeling, and license deal economics
• Defense, dual-use, and DoD technology transition

• Take on client projects in your specialty: technology and market assessments, licensing and deal structuring support, commercialization plans, and regulatory or reimbursement strategy
• Work with our team and our independent legal partner on projects that cross disciplines
• Deliver work on a defined scope, deliverable, and timeline set out in a written statement of work

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in your specialty, ideally in a university technology transfer office, a corporate business development or licensing team, a startup, or independent consulting
• A track record of completed deals, filings, submissions, or commercialization plans you can describe
• Comfortable advising researchers, founders, and technology transfer professionals
• Based in the U.S. Some projects involve export-controlled technology, so you will need to follow export control rules and tell us promptly about any factor that affects a specific project

• Independent contractor, project-based. This is not an hourly or salaried role, and there is no minimum volume of work
• You are paid for each completed project, based on your role in it
• Every consultant signs an NDA/CDA and discloses conflicts of interest before starting a project
• Remote, with flexible hours around your other commitments
