The Assistant Director of Nursing will supervise the day‑to‑day operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with current regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the DON in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the day‑to‑day functions of the nursing department, including therapy, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by participating in or conducting mock surveys, patient interviews, and random assessment of medical administration records.
- Review 24‑hour reports from every unit daily to monitor and ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in resident conditions, transfers, discharges, unexplained injuries, falls, behavioral episodes, medication errors, etc.
- Collaborate with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve quality of services and resolve identified problems.
- Coordinate/oversee restorative program and restorative staff as needed.
- Conduct compliance and nursing rounds on all units as needed, several times a day, including the beginning and end of each shift, speaking with residents/family and/or staff as needed.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state or a compact state.
- Must have two years’ experience as an RN, with two years management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of long‑term care regulations preferred.
- Current active RN license in the state or a compact state.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, with preference for management experience.
- Knowledge of long‑term care regulations (preferred).
