About Cornerstone Institute:
Cornerstone Institute is an independent, registered and accredited not-for-profit higher education institution with a story that matters. Founded in 1970 on the Cape Flats at a time when access to education was a tool of exclusion, we were built on a different premise: that education should be in service of others, advancing human dignity and social justice for all. Today, we are a fully accredited, vibrant community of learners and leaders based in Cape Town and online.
Our philosophy is simple:
Learn to Change the World. We don’t just offer degrees in Psychology, Business, Education, and the Humanities: we promote an ethical, principled worldview in our students. We are a space where academic integrity meets social relevance.
The Opportunity:
As we enter 2026, our Faculty of Psychology is leading a strategic evolution of our academic programs. We are currently implementing a future-forward curriculum design alongside a high-spec Learning Management System (LMS), all anchored by our commitment to the ISO 21001:2018 international standard for educational quality.
We aren’t looking for an academic who wants to deliver lectures exclusively. We’re looking for a partner. We need a Psychologist or Counsellor registered with HPCSA for a minimum of 3 years who finds the intersection of clinical excellence, research supervision, and institutional growth exciting.
The Person We’re Looking ForYou are someone who possesses “empathy with an edge.” You understand the messy, human side of change, both for students and colleagues, but you remain focused on moving forward.
You will thrive here if:
- You have a healthy appetite for change:
You don't just tolerate a new LMS or a curriculum shift; you lean into it. You see “change” as an opportunity, not a problem to be solved. - You value precision:
With our move toward an internal quality management system, you understand that robust, auditable processes are the backbone of a world-class educational experience. - You are a “Relational Professional”:
You align with our core values by treating relationships as your primary currency. You collaborate across departments and build bridges rather than silos. - You’re a “Triple Threat”:
You can handle a heavy research supervision load, navigate the rigours of BPsych practicum oversight, and deliver engaging modules on Community Psychology.
- Curriculum Leadership:
Manage the delivery of our evolving BA grid with administrative precision. - Supervision Excellence:
Provide high-touch research and practicum supervision for BPsych and PG Dip students. - Quality & Compliance:
Actively engage with our management system to ensure we are meeting (and exceeding) global educational standards. - Digital Leadership:
Become an early adopter and champion of our new LMS environment.
Master’s in Psychology (Essential): A PhD is highly preferred to support our PG Dip and Master’s accreditation requirements.
Professional Registration:
Current registration with the relevant professional board is a must for practicum supervision.
The “Antidote to Resistance”: A track record of staying optimistic and productive during institutional transitions.
Why Join Us?We work hard to build an environment that feels human, grounded, and intensely practical. We value professional clarity over unnecessary formality, and we prefer real conversations over corporate buzzwords.
You’ll be joining a team that operates with unfussy precision: we are serious about our execution, but we also recognise the messy, human parts of leadership and learning. If you’re looking for a space where you can be both a high-level expert and a curious, authentic colleague, you’ll feel right at home here.
Joining us means joining a legacy of transformation. We’re a team that values inclusivity, creativity, and the kind of “quietly sharp” excellence that actually moves the needle on the world’s challenges.
How to apply:If you are available to start on 15 January 2026 please send your CV and a compelling cover letter to recruitment.za before 8 January.
