WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORfibertime™ is seeking aNARC Operator (Network Advanced Response Centre) to support the
24/7 monitoring, incident response, and operational control of the live network.
This role sits at the frontline of network operations, ensuring the network remains
stable, visible, and responsive
, while providing first-line technical support and escalation to Net Ops and Engineering teams.
- Perform continuous monitoring of the live network using NMS tools (including IRIS and related platforms).
- Identify anomalies and elevate potential service impairments early.
- Monitor SLA thresholds and raise alerts when breaches occur.
- Respond rapidly to network outages, service degradation, and break-offs.
- Perform first-line incident handling (TAC1).
- Escalate complex issues to Net Ops and Engineering teams.
- Participate in incident tracking, updates, and resolution coordination.
- Support provisioning-to-assurance lifecycle activities.
- Ensure customer order fulfilment aligns with SLAs and operational standards.
- Assist with service activation and operational readiness tasks.
- Conduct initial fault investigations and diagnostics.
- Coordinate with third-party infrastructure providers when required.
- Track contractor interventions and resolution timelines.
- Ensure accountability across external vendors.
- Use OSS/BSS platforms to monitor alarms, performance, and configurations.
- Support visibility, control, and automation across network operations.
- Assist with operational reporting derived from OSS/BSS systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting network issues across L2/L3 and access layers.
- Support scheduled upgrades, maintenance windows, and configuration updates.
- Execute approved configuration changes as directed by Engineering.
- Maintain accurate change records and documentation.
- Monitor and manage trouble tickets in the designated ticketing system.
- Ensure timely response, escalation, and closure.
- Execute CAB-approved changes and upgrades.
- Follow fibertime™ change management procedures strictly.
- Produce daily and weekly network health reports.
- Maintain accurate logs of incidents, changes, outages, and performance metrics.
- Provide incident summaries and service updates when required.
- Identify trends and propose improvements.
- Maintain SOPs, playbooks, and operational documentation.
- Support onboarding of new services and readiness reviews.
- Provide feedback to improve tools, workflows, and processes.
- Assist with operational training materials and demonstration kits.
- Matric / Grade 12 (mandatory).
- Technical qualification or degree in IT, Networking, Engineering, or similar (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Minimum 4 years in a NOC, ISP, or telecommunications operations environment.
- Experience working in live production network environments.
- Exposure to FTTH, GPON, or broadband network operations preferred.
- Networking knowledge equivalent to CCNA level.
- Experience with Mikro Tik, Juniper, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of VLANs, routing, MAC management, and L2/L3 troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with OSS/BSS and NMS platforms.
- Basic automation or scripting exposure (advantageous).
- Calm and structured during incidents.

- Ability to work independently within a shift-based environment.
- 24/7 operational control environment.
- Rotating shifts: morning, afternoon, and night.
- Weekend and public holiday coverage required.
- Onsite or remote operation depending on operational needs.
- Participation in shift handovers required.
- Overtime or call-outs during major incidents may be required.
Reliable internet and backup power are required for remote shift coverage.
