Our client, a well-established player in the FMCG/import environment, is looking to appoint an Imports Coordinator to join their supply chain team in Montague Gardens.
This role requires someone confident in managing the end-to-end import process, working closely with agents, transporters, warehouses, and clearing partners. It’s a critical support role within a fast-moving environment that demands precision, coordination, and the ability to deliver under pressure.
📍 Based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town
- 4–6 years’ hands‑on experience in forwarding, shipping, customs, and warehousing
- Proven experience liaising with transporters and freight forwarders
- Strong understanding of Incoterms and international trade documentation
- High‑volume or multinational import environment experience is advantageous
- Solid Excel and numeracy skills
- Experience in Syspro would be beneficial
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate deliveries with agents, warehouses, and freight providers (including LCL and airfreight)
- Track shipments and confirm order details with suppliers
- Submit accurate documentation to clearing agents and maintain schedule updates
- Ensure Incoterms, shipping/payment terms, PO numbers, and other commercial data are correct
- Buy foreign exchange and complete import costings
- Process agent invoices, confirm VAT, duty, and HS code accuracy
- Update Syspro and internal shipping schedules
- Ensure timely submission of documents for payment processing
- Maintain filing systems and customs documentation for audit readiness
- Ensure compliance with ISO and SARS requirements
- Support buyers and the supply chain director with accurate reporting and coordination
Educational and Other Requirements:
- Matric is essential
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Imports/Exports, or Logistics preferred
- Understanding of IATI/dangerous goods shipments
- Accuracy and diligence when handling customs and shipment documentation
- Ability to prioritise multiple shipments and work under pressure
- Approachable, communicative, and proactive problem solver
