Job Summary
The Project Estimator is responsible for estimating landscape construction projects. The estimator calculates material costs, labor, material, and equipment required to build the job. The Project Estimator works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, mathematics, construction, architecture, engineering, horticulture, or related field, or 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 8 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
- Proficient in estimating software platforms, including On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Office, and other estimating software.
- Experience working with B2W, On-Screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam software.
- Proven track record of bid to contract conversions.
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state where employed.
- Professional certification in construction estimating a plus.
- Professional demeanor with staff and clients.
- Ability to foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Ability to prioritize workload in high volume market.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and mentor trainees.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Manage estimating schedule and workflow with Chief Estimator.
- Assist with hiring and recruitment of Estimators.
- Bid private and public works projects, including complex and large‑scale projects.
- Build qualified vendor and subcontractor network to ensure competitive pricing.
- Provide risk assessment and suggestions to alleviate risk exposure in projects.
- Accountable for complete project estimate and successful operational turnover.
- Constantly required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand, and walk.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Frequently required to use computer‑based systems.
- Frequently required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
