Network Technician 3 – Sterling Engineering

Hire Type: Contract
Shift: 1st Shift
Compensation: Up to $30/hr

Overview: Responsible for performing the installation, modification, testing, and maintaining data, voice and video communications equipment, and maintaining network cabling infrastructure.
Job Duties:
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot Local Area Networks and data communication equipment such as switches and routers.
- Assist in maintaining and repairing network operating systems, the network cabling infrastructure, and other telecom related components.
- Support existing LAN cabling and network infrastructure:
- Maintain drawings of drops in manufacturing floor and office areas.
- Maintain an inventory of necessary LAN cables and network equipment.
- Maintain IDF/MDF and telecom closets organized and clean.
- Plan network installations by studying customer requests and technical specifications; order and gather equipment, supplies, materials, and tools, assess installation on site, preparing an installation diagram. Coordinate LAN cabling installation with third party vendor or internal facilities resources.
- Repair/terminate network UTP cables (Cat5e/Cat6) as needed.
- Ensure the network and all related equipment are in working order.
- Work with IT support personnel to analyze and solve network-related problems reported by end-users or through proactive monitoring tool alerts.
- Support IT support personnel on desk side hardware moves, additions and changes.
- Secure network systems by enforcing corporate policies and applying IT best practice standards.
- May provide backup support to the telecommunications operations.
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN/WLAN).
- Knowledge of physical and logical LAN.
- Knowledge of IP Telephony, network structured cabling and standards, network switching and routing, VPN.
- Knowledge of MS Office toolset and MS Operating Systems.
- Ability to reconcile and track helpdesk/telecommunication invoices.
