Sr. Software Test Automation Engineer

06 to 07 months (Possibility of Extension)

Monday-Friday 9 AM to 5 PM

• Senior Software Automation Test Engineer
• Focus:
  Automated testing of mobile applications (Python-based, Selenium-based)
• Initial onboarding:
  First 30 days on-site, then potential hybrid
• Working hours:
  
  Typically, 9 AM - 5 PM PST, flexibility during release crunch

• Primary language:
  Python (framework migrated from Java)
• Experience with Android and iOS (React Native apps)
• Familiarity with Appium; open‑source contributions are a plus
• IBM ETM:
  Nice to have (training provided if not experienced)

• Round 1:
  Multiple managers
• Purpose:
  
  Address challenges in sourcing qualified candidates for SDET role
• Focus:
  Improve technical screening and candidate quality before interviews
• Leverage Hacker Rank and similar tools to validate coding proficiency (~40–60% coding role)
• Discuss process improvements to avoid wasting Abbott’s time with under qualified candidates
• Come prepared with suggestions and insights for strengthening evaluation process
• Ask candidates:
  Number of years of hands‑on experience in mobile app automated testing (actual day‑to‑day writing of automated scripts as primary function)
• Ask candidates:
  In their most recent role, what % of their week was spent writing automation scripts vs. executing existing scripts or other tasks
• Inform candidates:
  They will be asked to complete a coding challenge during the interview and demonstrate their skills live
