Senior Client Accountant - Advisory-Focused Role Milton Keynes / Hybrid

£38,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)

The Role

Are you an experienced practice accountant who enjoys building trusted relationships with SME clients?

Work directly with ambitious business owners, deliver meaningful financial insight, and play a key role in helping them grow.

Alexander Rosse is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Client Accountant to join our growing team.

This is a varied, client-facing role where you will manage your own portfolio of ambitious SME clients, providing high-quality accounting, tax and advisory services. You will work directly with founders and business owners, helping them make informed decisions, improve financial performance and achieve their growth ambitions.

You will also play an important role in supporting junior colleagues, improving processes and helping shape the future of our modern accountancy practice.

What you will do

• Client leadership:
  Manage a portfolio of SME clients and act as a trusted advisor
• Technical delivery:
  Prepare and review statutory accounts (FRS 102 / FRS 105), corporation tax and VAT
• Advisory & insight:
  Produce management accounts, forecasts and deliver practical financial advice
• Team contribution:
  Review junior work, provide mentoring, and support workflow planning
• Liaise with HMRC, Companies House, banks and other third parties
• Work with Xero, Dext and other cloud-based tools
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and client reporting

The Person

You will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience
• Experience with in a UK accountancy practice
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts, corporation tax and VAT
• Experience managing SME clients independently
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines

Nice to have:

• Experience mentoring junior staff
• Experience with Xero, Dext, Engager or Tax Calc
