Semi-Senior Accountant / Assistant AccountantBedfordshire | £30,000-£35,000

At Reed Practice, we are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing accountancy practice in their search for a Semi-Senior Accountant / Assistant Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with practice experience who is currently studying towards ACA or ACCA and looking to take the next step in their career. You'll join a supportive team, gain exposure to a varied client portfolio, and play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and compliance services.

The Role

• Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a diverse range of clients.
• Completing VAT returns, personal tax returns and bookkeeping assignments.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records and reconciliations.
• Assisting with tax compliance and ad hoc accounting projects.
• Responding to client queries and supporting strong client relationships.
• Managing workloads to meet deadlines, budgets and fee expectations.
• Working with cloud-based accounting software including Xero, Quick Books and Sage.
• Ensuring all work is completed to professional and regulatory standards.

The Ideal Candidate

• Minimum of 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice.
• Studying towards ACA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts for a range of business entities.
• Working knowledge of VAT and personal tax compliance.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using Xero, Quick Books and Sage.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proactive, commercially aware and able to work independently.
