The maternity team are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic person to join our team as a Ward Clerk in the Antenatal Clinic. You will need to be able to work flexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload in a fast‑paced, pressurised environment. You should be self‑motivated, have excellent communication/interpersonal skills and be able to work on your own as well as part of a busy team.
The successful candidate will be confident in using computer systems such as Microsoft Excel. Training will be provided to use the Trust's electronic patient records system.

Key responsibilities- Greet all visitors and telephone enquiries to the maternity unit in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner.
- Organise paperwork and notes within the maternity unit to ensure an organised department, including managing electronic document management and filing properly.
- Answer the telephone, taking and delivering messages appropriately.
- Perform general office duties as required for the clinical area.
- Liaise with staff from other departments including bed manager, medical records and bleep holders.
- Communicate messages effectively to service users, relatives and staff.
- Manage out‑patients appointments, including arranging and occasionally cancelling appointments.
- Carry out procedures via the Trust's IT systems for admission, transfer and discharge of service users.
- Enter electronic data onto Trust IT systems as required.
- GCSEs in Maths and English or equivalent.
- Willingness to train on the job.
- Basic knowledge of the role.
- Experience working in the NHS.
- Previous experience as a receptionist or in an office environment.
- Experience using IT packages.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Able to multi‑task.
- Good time management.
- Ability to form good inter‑personal relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to share knowledge.
- Self‑aware.
- Calm and reasonable.
- Approachable.
- Able to perform the duties of the post with reasonable aids and adaptations.
- Prepared to follow the Trust uniform policy.
