Job Overview

The Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial aspects of each development site, ensuring costs are controlled and budgets met. The role reports to the Commercial Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Produce draft budgets and site start budgets for assigned sites.
  • Create quarterly valuations and complete material cost-to-complete exercises.
  • Generate sub‑contract payments and final accounts, ensuring sign‑off by sub‑contractors.
  • Prepare sub‑contract orders, authorise them and provide all documentation required by Group Commercial Policy.
  • Complete on‑site measurements and assess contractor payments.
  • Attend and contribute to pre‑order, quarterly valuation and project review meetings with senior management, construction teams and external contractors.
  • Manage all sub‑contract orders on site, meeting with sub‑contractors as needed.
  • Maintain trade specifications.
  • Price customer extras and liaise with the sales department.
  • Manage the Professional Fees budget.
  • Assist with material buying when required.
  • Support the estimator and/or Commercial Manager with take‑offs for land appraisals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Surveyor with a residential house builder.
  • HND/HNC in Building Studies or equivalent.
  • GCSE Grade C/4+ or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Current CSCS card or equivalent desirable.
