Freelance Highways Supervisor - National Highways Network

Overview

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Freelance Highways Supervisor to support maintenance and repair works across the National Highways network in and around the Milton Keynes area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled highways professional with strong supervisory experience to join a busy programme of works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with National Highways standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Supervising highways maintenance and repair activities across the National Highways network.

· Ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

· Managing site teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.

· Carrying out daily briefings, site inspections, and safety checks.

· Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, RAMS, permits, and client procedures.

· Monitoring progress and reporting on programme delivery.

· Liaising with site management, engineers, clients, and stakeholders.

· Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries and quality documentation.

· Supporting a positive safety culture and promoting best practice on site.

Requirements

· Proven experience as a Highways Supervisor working on maintenance and repair schemes.

· Previous experience working on the National Highways network is essential.

· Valid Managers Confined Spaces ticket (mandatory requirement).

· SSSTS / SMSTS

· Relevant highways qualifications and experience, including a strong understanding of industry standards and procedures.

· Ability to interpret RAMS, permits, and technical documentation.

· Strong leadership and communication skills.

· Ability to manage teams and deliver works safely within programme requirements.

· Full UK driving licence.
