Quantity Surveyor

If your strength as a QS is the commercial aspects and building packages rather than sitting in an estimating spreadsheet, please read on… Our client is a high-end residential contractor working across London and Home Counties. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team to own the commercial side of their projects, from the first tender to the final account.

Package building sits at the centre of the role. You'll take drawings, break them into clear, buildable packages and write scopes tight enough to hold up under pressure. Estimating is already handled through external support, so your focus stays on packaging the work and protecting the commercial position. The role is initially going to be home-based, so they need someone who can run their own day and keep projects moving without close supervision.

Over time they will be looking into office space north of London. Break drawings down into structured, buildable cost packages Write tenders and scopes precise enough that nobody is arguing over them later Mark up drawings in Bluebeam, CAD, Sketch Up or similar to read and share technical detail Creating and building relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and keep costs realistic throughout projects Manage the estimating process using the external support already in place Negotiate terms and pin down inclusions, exclusions, variations, payment mechanisms and extensions of time Run the day-to-day commercial work from valuations and variations through to final accounts Produce cost reports and cashflow forecasts that keep everyone informed Work alongside the project team across tender and delivery You've got solid UK Quantity Surveyor experience under your belt, especially with high-end residential projects or those technically detailed builds that require a keen eye Confidently handle projects up to £5 million like a pro, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently Your deep knowledge of UK construction practices is the backbone of what you do, making you indispensable to our team You're a whiz at package building and procurement, ensuring every detail is accounted for and expertly managed Navigating Bluebeam, CAD, or Sketch Up is second nature to you, making complex designs and plans feel like a walk in the park You're a maestro at juggling multiple live projects, always keeping the commercial aspects in view and under control Working from home?
