SDMC Consultants is seeking a Senior Architect to support Principal Architect in leading building design projects across all stages – from concept design to planning, technical design, and construction coordination. The role requires strong design capability, technical competency, documentation skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.

Design & Documentation
  • Assist the Principal Architect in developing concept, schematic, and detailed designs
    .
  • Produce high‑quality drawings, diagrams, 3D models, and presentation materials.
  • Prepare Design & Access Statements
    , planning drawings, and supporting reports.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with project standards, regulations, and QA processes.
Technical Coordination
  • Develop detailed drawings/specifications and coordinate with structural, MEP, fire, and façade consultants.
  • Review consultant drawings, identify conflicts, and propose resolutions.
  • Contribute to design risk assessments, compliance checklists, and technical audits.
Planning & Regulatory Compliance
  • Assist in preparing planning submissions and responding to validation queries.
  • Research and apply relevant building codes, regulations, sustainability requirements, and local authority guidance.
  • Prepare technical notes and justification documents to support approval processes.
Project Delivery Support
  • Support the Principal Architect in managing workflow, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with project managers to track progress, variations, and risk items.
  • Participate in client meetings, design workshops, and site visits as required.
  • Prepare minutes, action logs, and follow‑up documentation.
Design Quality & QA
  • Conduct drawing/model reviews before internal and external submissions.
  • Ensure proper version control, file organization, and documentation standards.
  • Aid in maintaining the architectural design handbook, templates, and best‑practice guides.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior architects, assistants, and interns.
  • Foster a collaborative, learning‑focused team culture.
  • Share knowledge on software, standards, design approaches, and technical detailing.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Professional architectural degree (B.Arch/M.Arch) and valid registration/licensure (e.g., ARB/RIBA Part 3, COA, AIA, or equivalent).
  • 6–10+ years of experience in architectural design and documentation.
  • Proven experience producing planning and detailed design packages for building projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit/BIM
    , AutoCAD, and visualization tools (e.g., Enscape/Twinmotion).
  • Solid understanding of building regulations, planning policy, and construction detailing.
  • Experience coordinating with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with residential, mixed‑use, or redevelopment projects (e.g., office‑to‑residential conversions).
  • Familiarity with façade design, fire strategy requirements, and balcony/amenity design standards.
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (BREEAM/LEED), energy codes, and passive design.
  • Experience with information management platforms (e.g., BIM 360, SharePoint).
  • Strong design sense and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to solve problems proactively and elevate issues when needed.
  • Good time management and ability to handle multiple work streams.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to take direction and offer creative input.

  • Accuracy and completeness of drawings and technical documents.
  • Quality of coordination with consultants and internal teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliverables with minimal rework.
  • Contribution to design quality, compliance, and project efficiency.
  • Positive feedback from Principal Architect, project leads, and clients.
